Classic car insurance for a daily driver
By ULEZ Classic · · General information
Tell the broker if your classic will be your everyday car, including any commuting. A weekend or limited-mileage policy may not match that use. Ask for a quote that explicitly covers the journeys you intend to make.
Can you insure a classic as your everyday car?
Daily use is a question for the broker and insurer, not something the car's age decides. Adrian Flux offers insurance for older daily drivers. The available policy and price still depend on your car, circumstances and intended use.
Explain the whole week: work journeys, shopping, school runs and leisure trips. If you drive for work beyond travelling to a workplace, describe those journeys separately so the broker can check the required use.
What details help a broker assess daily use?
Prepare an honest annual mileage estimate and your usual parking arrangements. A car driven through London every weekday presents a different use pattern from one taken to a handful of summer shows.
- Expected annual mileage, including weekends and longer trips.
- Whether you commute and how often.
- Any business journeys, deliveries or paid use.
- Where the car is parked overnight and during the day.
- Who will drive it and whether you have access to another vehicle.
Does ULEZ exemption make daily use insurable?
ULEZ status and insurance permission are separate checks. TfL determines whether a vehicle is exempt from the charge; the insurance documents determine what use is covered. Complete both checks before relying on a classic for a regular journey.
Before buying, ask for an insurance quote for the actual car and your planned use. Then check the registration with TfL. Keep these checks separate from the seller's description of the car as a classic.
This guide helps you prepare questions. Your policy documents and the broker's explanation determine the cover available to you.
